Thanks I think you are right.

"For this impression changes were made to the lettering on the upper and lower covers as well as to the spine." from tolkienbooks.net

I am very interested in the spine, does anyone know how many changes were made and what they look like for this edition?

I have the 12th impression, it matches the price of the third one down, but has the lettering with the black outline like the second one down in the pic above. So I agree the third one down is likely the 11th impression in the TolkienBooks link you think it is.

I have the same copy as you

What is the best way to try and find the changes, with pictures, of this edition?

If you have a copy, then please post an image of the spine and the frontcover? So that we can get a definitive list of them, duplicate posts of the same cover and spine will probably be deleted, sorry.

I think that is a good idea. I won't be able to post pictures of my 12th impr. until Sunday at the earliest, if you want to get yours up first.

This copy is from 1974, 14th Impression.

There are more with different spines and front-covers, if you have a different one then please post, please post spine and front-cover.

Here's the 11th impression... unfortunately, the spine is almost completely faded.

It would be interesting to know with which impressions the price changes were made. I have the same cover/spine as the 1974 impression you posted Trotter, but from 1973 (12th imp); same price, £2.10. But the same cover in the Twitter picture is at £3.95.
