Does anybody have more information on the following private edition, 7 copies only :
Asking on behalf of an email from thorntonbookswim@gmail.com
Is this Alexander out there/ known to anyone?
J.R.R. Tolkien, E.V. Gordon & others. Songs for the Philologists.
A collection of thirty poems and songs, thirteen of which are by J.R.R. Tolkien
and
For W.H.A. - in Modern and Old English.
Assembled for Jane’s 28th birthday – 12 July 2012 ( 7 copies printed) From Alexander
Added is an explanation:
the 1st Edition [ of Songs…) was issued in 1936 and privately printed at the Department of English, University College. London. Printed in 1936, Songs for the Philologists.
was not distributed due to permissions not being obtained from Tolkien and
Gordon. Most copies were destroyed by enemy action in 1940. An unknown
