Here's something to consider:

Last year's illustrated edition of Unfinished Tales. At this time, we don't know if it will get a paperback release, as it came out in hardback in October, and paperbacks are TYPICALLY out around a year after a hardback (this isn't limited to Tolkien). If it does, I can see it rendering demand for the 2010 one redundant. Why?

- it'll be illustrated, like the 2008 paperbacks of The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion and the great tales title. The 2010 Unfinished Tales features no illustrations, despite the cover matching the others mentioned.
- aside from the fact that it's illustrated, the cover art and design style will fit right in with the titles mentioned above.
- "But I like the Blue Wizards cover!" You get that image in the illustrated edition as one of the illustrations.

Just my thoughts, but we'll see what happens. It'll definitely be a much cheaper alternative, going by the eBay, Amazon and AbeBooks prices of the 2010 edition.

I'm not sure people necessarily collect books using the logic you have here.

Books are looking good, but it’s difficult to determine a fair amount when prices are rising in these days...
But I can definitely confirm that the seller is very trustworthy, I know him in person.

Seems expensive. The books don't look in great condition (bumps and foxing), but the DJs look pretty good. The spines on mine are more toned than that and my FOTR is more ragged at the bottom, but my books are much better. I got mine a few years back and paid similar to Mr Underhill. No one used to want the RU editions - I've always seen them go between 100 - 150 with jackets.

This looks exactly like Isengard doesn't.
