It looks truly beautiful, thanks for sharing! But at $156 ... I'll pass. The standard edition is beautiful as well

Good gracious that is gorgeous!
The rest of their Tolkien books are ugly at best, but this is genuinely superb. I’ll keep it on my watch list and hope I can find it at a more affordable price at some point.

That is much nicer than their usual, as you say. I think they do better when they have source material to work from for the cover art, like in this case.

I think it worth noting that for the price difference between the trade edition and this one, not only do they use higher grade materials, but these two points below are also not cheap. And in my mind, well worth paying extra for.
- Rigorous inspection at every stage ensures adherence to our exacting standards.
- Superb craftsmanship and commitment to quality.

I look forward to buying it from eBay in around 10 years!

Haha! Well I’m sure it’ll be on sale at some point or another this year. I think even at the current price it is worth it - both for the quality and craftsmanship of the book, and also for the fact it is full of illustrations and some great content. I have the regular hardback and it’s a delight to read. I’m just not in a position to pay full price right now.
