The link is no longer online. So can anyone confirm the printer used for the German trade edition ?![]()
Printer is Eberl & Koesel.

Exactly. In France, The Art of the LotR isn't translated and even the traditional illustrations of the LotR (like the pages of the Book of Mazarbul) never were published with the text.
Ahha, thank you, Druss and @Scarlet_Sorcerer. I thought the Art of series had been published in French, hence why I was confused over what could have been 'new'.
We are behind on a large part of the works in France... To give you an idea, only the first 5 HOME were published in French.
However, it's not for lack of talking about the 2 "Art of" to publishers who could publish it but, for the moment, still nothing.

Thank you Laurin.
Amazon Belgium has this on sale for €70 at the moment, a good deal for those that don't have a copy yet.
The US edition is currently on sale for anyone who has been wanting this - less than $40 at the moment.

Almost no one...

After reading through this thread, I have ordered a copy of this edition (from Amazon, priced at £87.80) as Christmas gift for my father, and once I get hands-on with it, I expect I'll be ordering another copy for myself.

I have both the standard hardcover and the deluxe version of this and I feel that both are fantastic products. I think it is a great purchase and a great christmas gift for a father.
The deluxe version I took out and went through once to check for issues, but I felt that it was too fancy to read. I was also a little bit concerned about the golden details on the spine of the book, but it has held up very nicely since I got it in early 2023. Granted, I store it with the spine inward in the bookcase and I have not touched the spine since that first time. I guess as I type this, it makes me a bit sad that I treat it like a glorified paperweight, but I am truly glad that I have this edition. I read the standard hardcover edition or an ebook version of it instead and I guess I am okay with that.

I agree with EmilK there that the golden details did make me feel concerned, not only on the spine, but on the cover, too. Maybe it was just my copy and/or my impression, but I felt like they didn't adhere well enough to the cover. I'm also not a fan of the fake leather. I liked the standard version better: the dust jacket is based on the first edition of LOTR's, and when you take it off, only the Eye of Sauron remains on an entirely black background. It's really neat!

This is the way.
The "standard" version is an excellent one-volume copy for reading. It has the most updated text and I'm a fan of the paper: not too thick and not too thin. To be honest, I'm not that excited by Tolkien's illustrations since they're clearly not "publication worthy" in most cases. (Sorry if I'm re-hashing others' comments.) However, they don't detract from the text and do add variable amounts of value to the reading experience.
As far as I'm concerned, the only reasons not to choose this copy are 1) the somewhat gaudy red paper edges, and 2) a general dislike for reading one volume editions. Neither are the least issue for me.
As for cost, put it in your Amazon cart, "save for later," and wait for a discount. I ended up buying a gift copy for a someone else and a second copy for myself when the price was under $31 USD. For that price or even in the sub-$50 range, it's an excellent value and remains so in late 2025.
