Oh, cool, glad to hear about that English-language edition. I'm going to get one for my mum.

The paperback collection with its updated graphic charter continues. This time, it could well be that the British envy the French edition, particularly for the high quality reproduction of the illustrations on glossy paper

I suggested this illustration to the publisher who didn't know which one to choose at the start of the project. I'm glad (and proud !) it was able to be done, paying homage to the UK 2010 paperback (and a personal pleasure because it's one of my favorite Ted illustrations ).

It appears that the Tolkien publisher Christian Bourgois has been acquired by Gallimard, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%89ditions_Gallimard

Very little information is available at the moment, but as far as we know, the management and teams at Bourgois will remain unchanged.

If any of you are interested, I'd like to take this opportunity to give you an overview of publishing in France.

Bourgois, the main publisher, is in the process of reissuing all the main works in a double collection: a hardback, based on the British editions you know well, and a paperback, more traditional and closer to the publisher's graphic charter.
Independently of this reissuing process, unfortunately, this is not the case for new translations (as a reminder, French translations have stopped at volume 5 of the HOME series, so recent publications are a long way off...).
To be continued !

In the small format we call “poche” in France (equivalent to paperback mass market), the publishing rights to Tolkien's works are now all held by Pocket (they were missing The Hobbit until last year).
The publisher has begun on a long process of publishing the entire Tolkien collection. Most of the books will be reissues, but some others will have their first edition at this size (this will be the case, for example, of B&L and FoG next November, whose covers you can see here).

Finally, it should be noted that Bragelonne, a specialist fantasy/science fiction publisher, continues to take a close interest in secondary texts. After the incredibly successful translation of KWF's Atlas of Middle-earth, new projects are already in the pipeline.

Trotter, Do you think that 3 October date is a good one for Le Seigneur des Anneaux? Le Hobbit and Le Silmarillion have been available for about a year now on Amazon.fr, but LSDA isn't listed there yet.

Probably a better question for Bergelmir
