Tolkien in schools

I've acquired some Swedish teaching material from the 1970s, where Tolkien is one of the (many) authors in a literature anthology used for 16-17 year olds.

I'd be really interested to learn if anyone knows of other instances of Tolkien being taught or otherwise included in a school curriculum, the older the better. Any pointers to any materials would be greatly appreciated, especially if in English, French or Italian (which I could read).

Thanks!
Matt

The first example that immediately comes to mind is Foster's Teacher's Guide to The Hobbit

Thank you gents! Interesting. I have also found that William Ready did something akin to a Cliffs Notes, for H and LOTR, which came out in 1971.

Any chance it might be this one? Published in 1971 in Canada.

I was taught with it at school in the UK as part of English Language (not literature) circa 1982. As far as i recall the books used were the Unwin paperback of the time (1981). I don't recall any specific teaching materials in my case.

Sparknotes has Hobbit & LR: https://www.sparknotes.com/author/j-r-r-tolkien/

They have been reissued thrice in China: https://book.douban.com/subject/2976456/ https://book.douban.com/subject/3300956/

And I happened to come across Английский язык с Дж.Р.Р. Толкиеном. Хоббит just yesterday.
