A distinguishing feature of the first printing is the presence of a misprint on page 193, where “Dodges” appears instead of “Dodgins.”

This is a complete mess, assume they are talking about Dodgeson on the dust-jacket, but disappointed that they did not proof-read the article.

Thanks for posting it, it is useful for us to point out errors in it, hopefully Sotheby's may update it.

I too think this article is pretty lacking when it comes to the LoTR information. They should include the sheets sent to HoughtonMifflin in the 1st print numbers. As those were also printed by GA&U.
