I have a collection of this limited edition that I am looking to sell. I posted on Reddit and it was recommended that I post here as well. I originally purchased the books at Galaxy Books and Dymocks in Sydney Australia , for the most part they are still in the original shrinkwrap. Before any sales are completed the wrap will be removed so that the actual condition of the book can be photographed for the buyer. I have a few interested buyers but am yet to figure out what they are worth? I am aware of a few recent sales. One on Canada Ebay and the other on Tolkien Library. I have a few apocryphal numbers above those but they have been dismissed as rumour. Any help appreciated.

At least we now know why they are uncommon to market. You have them all

To be honest I did grab a few. If anyone is interested please drop me a message. Im trying to figure out a fair price. Each book will have the shrink wrap removed so I can actually assess the condition and take photos for the buyer. They have been kept stored since purchase so they maybe the only unread As New condition editions available for purchase. Shipping from Australia will be by insured courier and well packed (lets be honest over packed). Any questions please ask.

Recent sales (very few) of these have been in the $3000 USD range. The market for these is pretty strong atm.

They are pretty uncommon generally. I have a couple of fine copies bought before prices went nuts. The market these days is quite strong for them. I'd imagine $3000+ like Mr. Underhill mentioned. I think a question will be is how many people are in the market at any given point vs how many copies you have (you obviously have quite a few). A lot of the value is down to the fact that there are usually none for sale!

Thank You for the information. Im not in a hurry to sell, its more that I am trying to downsize so am looking to move on items that I don't need or for which I have no further use. Basically too much stuff. I think many collectors get to this stage eventually, especially if they have multiple interests.

An interesting point was made by one of the members about the price for a copy in shrink wrap as apposed to one that has been opened to take photos and assess the condition properly.

For the price I would feel as both seller and buyer that I would like to be certain of the state of an edition before selling/purchase.

It's the whole collectables debate. Mint in Box
