Rangers of the North smial moot in Preston (UK) - 12pm on Saturday 6th December 2025

The Rangers of the North, a Tolkien Society smial based in North West England, are hosting their monthly moot (aka meet) in Preston, Lancashire, on Saturday 6th December 2025.
Our moots are social gatherings, usually centred around meeting up around lunchtime (Hobbit-style) for food and then either settling in for a cosy chat or moving to a pub/inn for the same.
In Preston we meet at the Grey Friar, a Wetherspoons, at noon (12pm). Pub details here.
We organise these moots via our Facebook group page here and we also have opened up a Discord server.
As well as social meets for food and chat, we have done trips to local spots connected with Tolkien (there are some in the North West!) and more suchlike plans are being made for 2026 and beyond (as I research these matters). We are looking into setting up a connected gaming club, with locations in Fleetwood/Preston and also elsewhere - perhaps playing Free League's "The One Ring" RPG or the 5e variant, "The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying".
