Tolkien biography coming via Kickstarter

This was posted in July last year and suddenly posts appeared again in the last few days.

I can't imagine that the estate would be happy with this being a kickstarter.

Reading their blurb:

"So Pop Icons is a luxurious book of some 300 pages..." or "The result: a beautiful 248-page volume..."

Who knows, maybe it's two books? Or they just don't know their book. I get that this can happen, but a Kickstarter needs to know what it's product is.

Is it know why there is no massive, complete and updated (narrative) biography of Tolkien written by expert(s)? Is the space already filled by the earlier one and the detailed work done by S&H?

I would be very hesitant towards this particular kickstarter project. A specialist in pop culture? Superficially seems like a non-optimal fit for this task, but I have been surprised before in my life...

Anyone from France here bought it and can comment? I've bought some VERY nicely done books on Kickstarter.

I didn't buy it, but I had it between my hands for some hours and read it entirely. I can't recommend it. Not that it's a bad book, it's globally good, but it's a mainstream book that only sum up what we already know from Carpenter. Moreover, the term "beautiful" is, AMHA, overstated.
