Our long-standing member Verity Thomas sadly died two years ago. Many members will remember her from our 2012 conference as well as plenty of events in Germany. She was a lover of the films, of Tolkien art, and especially Viggo Mortensen!
In her will, she very kindly left her collection to the Tolkien Society. Today we are launching an online auction of the items so her collection can go back into the community.

We are holding an auction of 223 different lots which includes:
• 18 art pieces
• 16 lots of books by Tolkien and a further 20 lots of books about Tolkien
• 26 film books and a further 13 from Viggo Mortensen
• 6 art books and 14 non-Tolkien books (but broadly history and mythology related)
• 23 lots of DVDs, CDs, VHS and more
• 41 statues from Weta, Sideshow and others
• 10 Toybiz items and 6 games
• 6 plates and 23 other assorted collectibles
• and 1 calendar!
Some lots include multiple items, such as collections of chess pieces, figurines, and book and DVD boxed sets. To help with navigation, please use the search function or the dropdown to find items by category.
We hope these items will give you as much joy as they gave Verity. Please do donate and think about buying yourself or a loved one a Christmas gift. Please also feel free to share the link to this auction - https://charityauction.bid/tolkiensociety - with others who also may be interested.
The auction closes at Sun, 14 Dec 2025 8:00 PM GMT Items will be despatched on the week of 15 December, and most of the large statues are already boxed and ready to be shipped.

All money raised will be used by the Society to help our objective to advance education and promote research into the life and works of J.R.R. Tolkien. The Society has the ultimate aim to have our own "home" - a Centre to Tolkien where people can learn about the author that has done so much to enrich our lives.
Thank you so much,
Shaun
