TCG Letter #116

From
J.R.R. Tolkien
To
John Kettle
Date
15 March 1942
Type
Autograph Letter Signed
Transcript

Tolkien discusses The Hobbit, the Silmarillion, and The Lord of the Rings, the last then a work-in-progress.

The recipient, John Kettle, was a Junior House student at Felsted School. He and other students were evacuated to Canon Frome Court in Ledbury, Herefordshire, during World War Two. Additionally, Tolkien reused the envelope and from that we can see that he received the original letter from John on the 5th March 1941.
