In reply to Letter from J.R.R. Tolkien to Ronald Eames • 4 May 1949 (#2718), Ronald Eames thanks Tolkien for the return on the galley-proofs of Farmer Giles of Ham. He will send Tolkien a paste-up of with the illustrations over the coming weeks and send them to Tolkien for approval. He notes that GA&U cannot afford to use more colours but remarks that the two-colour decision means that they can include all of Pauline Baynes' illustrations in the book, making it longer.
