Just spotted 3 volumes on Amazon Uk for pre-sale, illustrated by Alan Lee.

The Fellowship of the Ring at 464 pages and 19 illustrations.

The Two Towers at 400 pages and 16 illustrations.

The Return of the King at 496 pages and 15 illustrations.

I assume they will be the 50 illustrations included in the Houghton Mifflin edition but the page count seems high at 1360 for the 3 volumes.

It could just a 'placeholder' figure. I've noticed HC/Amazon does that often - especially if the books are re-publications of an earlier edition.

A paperback box-set has been listed on Amazon now too that has a April 16 2020 release date. 1600 pages mentioned.

The Fellowship front cover is sporting that classic scene of the ghost boats of the Fellowship. That can't be a final cover.

Interesting typeface (and one that I'm not sure feels especially suitable). Presumably to differentiate the Amazon Middle-earth from the Jackson Middle-earth.

Good call Stu. It may well be a shift to fit in with Amazon.

That's what I'm thinking - curious what the new Unfinished Tales will be like. Also, these remind me of the 'National Geographic' covers that the UK Ice and Fire paperbacks got, of landscapes and cities.

Thanks for posting - they all look nice enough. Have a clean look that some of the publications lacked in the Jackson years.

Not entirely true (well there may have been more bad than good ones) though the 2002 covers are pretty nice. Those editions came out 'during' PJ's trilogy. (these editions: https://i.redd.it/pmxjr26v0c911.jpg)

That's why I said "some"! (Edit: I like those covers, though I do think the faux-bevelled text does look dated on those now and has more than a hint of PJ)
