Looking for informations about the evolution of texts on Numenor, I've some researches about the redaction composition of Appendix A (i) about Numenor.
However, whatever the HoMe consulted (IX or XII), it seems that there is a blind spot on this subject. Christopher Tolkien don't talk about it neither in the history of the Akallabeth, nor in the history of the whole appendix A (he started his discussion with the Heirs of Elendil), some pages later ; and nothing is either written in the Numenor chapter in Sauron Defeated. I look further in HoMe V, to be sure, but the Appendix A is concomitant with Akallabeth, so a lot later than the Lost Road and the fall of Numenor.
So, that's it. Nothing from Christopher about it. Hammond and Scull only comment the change between the first and second editions of LR, nothing on the redaction of the appendix itself.
My question is, does a discussion exists somewhere else, by someone else, about it ?
