Is this a real John Howe signature?

I have the opportunity to buy the 2009 map book by Sibley allegedly signed by John Howe. It was, according to the seller, bought by the seller in New Zeeland between December 2010 and January 2011 when visiting Wētā Workshop at a book signing.
My three questions to you experts here:
1. Does it look like a legitimate signature by John Howe? I have tried to look at examples of allegedly known signatures, but lack the expertise to fully evaluate it.
2. Is it known if he was in New Zeeland and had a book signing at Wētā during this period in time?
3. What is the expected price for a near-fine signed book like this? I checked Ebay, but too few examples to get any idea.
