In reply to Letter from Ronald Eames to J.R.R. Tolkien • 6 December 1948 (#2698), Tolkien says that he is delighted with Pauline Baynes artwork for Farmer Giles of Ham. He remarks that his "only difficulty will be to reject any without sorrow if they are all so good."

Hammond and Scull presume that Tolkien returns the illustrations with this letter.
