Yeah, but it is a specific kind of impregnated cloth that isn't really very clothlike any more. I guess that goes for most book cloths, mind.

Are you referring to Houghton Mifflin, or HarperCollins? This is one of their 'mirrored' editions.

I'd go for HoughtonMifflin, as their 3-volume illustrated boxed set is still in print - which, to me, makes sense (an illustrated Lord of the Rings should never be one book)

Interestingly the 2004 HM first impression was also printed & bound by Proost of Belgium. (Similariy the 1998 US first was produced in Italy with the UK edition.)

Maybe they imported too many sheets and the book is now out of copyright!!!!1! (sarcasm font)
